UNHCR warned on 30 October 2026 that humanitarian needs are growing fast at Moyale, on the Kenya-Ethiopia border.

According to local authorities cited by UNHCR, up to an estimated 50,000 people have crossed into Kenya since 22 October, a figure UNHCR says remains fluid as registration and verification continue, with most of those fleeing reported to be women and children.

Food remains the most urgent need, alongside safe drinking water, emergency shelter, sanitation and health care, and UNHCR says it has mobilised emergency supplies for nearly 12,000 people so far, with an emergency team deployed to work with Kenyan authorities, IOM, UNICEF, WFP, the Kenya Red Cross and other partners.
